自幼失聪的九岁男孩虾仔为了完成老师布置的开学作业——“寻找家乡的声音”，拉上自己六十岁的侄孙——高胡演奏师乐叔一同出发，见识当代的中国，听听家乡的声音。
Xiazai is a nine-year-old boy who has been deaf from an early age. In order to finish his homework ——"Looking for the Sounds of the Hometown" assigned by his teacher, he takes Uncle Yue, his 60-year-old grandnephew who is a Gaohu (a Chinese musical instrument) performer, to explore contemporar y China and appreciate the music of his hometown.
