牵丝戏是一个民国戏曲题材的故事。 讲述了民国末年青年京剧演员杜潇潇在整理师父的遗物过程中意外看见一封信，信中描述了倔强丫头斓君与戏曲名家少爷程世戎的二人感情纠葛的一系列故事。展现了家境贫寒的丫头斓君在师父程世戎的帮助下一步步深入学习戏曲，并在代替师娘黛烟登台唱戏的同时对自己师父暗生情愫。影片围绕两个京剧伶人半世纪的悲欢离合，将两代人的爱情观、传统与现代思想的碰撞展现得淋漓尽致。由此体现了现代女性主义的爱情观，展现了对传统戏曲艺术的坚持、人的生存状态和人性的思考与领悟以及对当时动荡不安时局的隐射。

The Puppetoon is a story about traditional opera in the Republic of China. Du Xiaoxiao, an youth peking opera actor in last years of the Republic of China found a letter when going through his master's things. The letter told the stories about the romantic entanglement of a stubborn servant girl, Lan Jun, with Cheng Shirong, young master of a famous opera actor family. Poor Lan Jun learned peking opera from Master Cheng Shirong and fell in love with his master when performing at the stage in replacement of master's wife. The movie shows us the collision of the love view of two generations and modern thought with traditional thought. The movie also implies the love view of modern women, persistence of traditional opera, people's living status, thought of humanity and the instability of those years.
