将“为人民服务”铭记于心的老潘，时常出钱出力帮助有需要的村民，是村民心中的“大好人”。老潘为了带领村民发家致富，积极申请农业贷款，办莲蓬展销会。就在一切看似顺利的时候，老潘因为将孩子上大学的学费优先捐给急需手术的村民而引起妻儿的不满，与妻儿闹起了矛盾，眼看要办下来的农业贷款也出了变故。老潘必须将自己的精神传递给妻儿以获取妻儿的理解，同时办成农业贷款。然而老潘却被检查出癌症晚期，在生命的最后，老潘获得了全村人民以及政府的帮助，并用行动感化了妻儿，儿子继承了老潘的精神，完成了老潘的遗愿。

Mr. Pan, who always upheld “serve the people” in mind, often contributed money and labor to help villagers who needed help. He was “a great people” in the heart of villagers. At the end of his life, Mr. Pan got help from all the villagers and the government, and exerted influence on his wife and son with his practical action. His son inherited Mr. Pan’s spirit, and fulfilled Mr. Pan’s last wish.
