Mama, women who give birth, who believe and give care, between women and men, who believe we need to think and keep thinking about nature, return to mother earth, chakra, the countryside, to sing to the mountains, to the river, to the little seeds, the birds, to all of us who form this community of life, to whom we support the day to day, the family and the life in the community, who believe that it is necessary that we sustain and strengthen to regenerate as a society through the melodies and feed us as generations with legacy, with roots, co-reasoning today in contrast to what our ancestors left us. Mama, tells the story of three generations of women in an indigenous Ecuadorian family. We see in their stories the difficulties of being indigenous women—ones who have suffered the structural violence of a patriarchal and racist society. But in the face of struggle, they are united by care. Being an indigenous woman has meant that the field continues to exist in itself and in its relationship with the cities. And this duality has played a fundamental role in shaping the feminist discourses of contemporary life. The silent struggle of women in the countryside forces us to see nature as a body that has life and has rights. Mama is a reading of the daily struggle of women torn between two lands.
