影片以一个大山深处的医生——陆垂棉为主角，真实的记录了一位平凡而又朴实的‘生命守护者’，独身一人坚守在基层医疗岗位五十多年。影片除了记录这位七十多岁的老村医在大山深处行医的艰辛，更想呼吁广大青年医生投身基层医疗岗位，为这些大山里的百姓服务，以陆医生和当地村民的视角表现了目前农村医疗的现状。
