影片讲述了山西省长治县荫城镇的一名传统打铁匠。荫城作为千年铁府，打铁的历史源远流长，贾忠平出身于铁匠世家，作为家庭的长子他从小听着打铁声长大的，到了16岁的时候开始跟着父亲学习打铁。小时候的梦想变成了现在一生的坚持，年过半百，对于打铁的初心没有改变，他想用自己的努力去创造属于他的人生价值。
The film tells a traditional blacksmith in Yincheng Town, Changzhi County of Shanxi Provice. As a millennium iron town, Yincheng has a long history of blacksmith. Born in a blacksmith family and as the eldest son, Jia Zhongping has grown up with the sound of iron forging. When he was 16 years old, he started to learn forging iron from his father. The childhood dream becomes the lifetime insistence. Although he is over fifty, he has not changed the original mind of forging iron and made efforts to create the value of his life with his efforts.
