The protagonist Sonam Tashi grows up in the embrace of tenderness and sunshine. In this world, he only cares about two things: the mysterious and vast ocean of knowledge and the accompany of his parents. But his family conditions do not allow him to have both. His father has been away from home for years while his mother is afflicted with lingering diseases. Learning that his mother is in deteriorated conditions, Sonam Tashi decides to quit school and shoulder some burden of the family. But his mother loses her temper at him, demanding him to return to school. Life will not favor you just because of all the ordeals you have experienced. Not long before his father returns, his mother passes away. Bearing his mother and the hope for future in mind, Sonam Tashi sets out on the pilgrimage journey to Lhasa with his father.
