Dowling Gray is a noble boy who has grown up in London. He is good-looking and kind. When Daolin sees the portrait of himself by the painter Holward, he finds his amazing beauty. Under the temptation of the painter Lord Henry, he made a wish to the portrait: his beauty and youth young will remain forever, the vicissitudes of life and the sin during youth will be borne by the portrait, yet he pays huge price for this.
