颜开，生于1976年，中国著名漫画家、动画导演。上世纪九十年代初，中国人习惯的“传统漫画”连环画开始衰落，取而代之的是由国外传来的新漫画。1994年，颜开18岁，他放弃大学学业投身漫画行业，成为中国原创新漫画的开拓元老，成为“中国原创故事漫画第一人”、“中国内地首席漫画家”。在颜开看来，漫画是一个“寂寞而美丽”的工作。寂寞是每日创作的辛苦和孤独，美丽是自己的作品受到被读者热爱时的喜悦。

Yan Kai, born in 1976, the famous cartoonist and animation director in China. At the beginning of the 1990s, “the traditional cartoon” comic strip that Chinese people got accustomed to reading started to decline. What replaced this is new cartoon from abroad. In 1994, Yan Kai was 18 years old. He gave up his study in university, plunged himself into the cartoon industry, and became the pioneer of new cartoon of original creation in China, “the first one of original story cartoon in China”, “the top cartoonist in mainland China”. For Yan Kai, cartoon is a “lonely but beautiful” job. Loneliness originated from hardship and solitude in everyday creation, beauty originated from joy when his own works were appreciated by readers.
